The bar and sushi bar, tricked out in white Lucite, are backlit with changing colored lights, which make your plate suddenly turn into a dinner of a different color. Snack on smoked oysters with lemongrass or spicy-sour lobster soup. You can also fill up on duck in yellow curry or a seasonal special of soft shell crabs covered in basil sauce with sun dried tomatoes and roasted garlic cloves. For a pre-theater dinner that is spicy with a side of cool, Bluechili is just the ticket.

Some think that it's always a good idea to hide culinary imperfections behind large quantities of salt. Does it ever really work?

Very tasty eggplant and tofu basil, somewhat oily but the best thai I have had here so far.

Very over priced Sushi. The fish doesn't seem to be fresh and the rice is really plain (Japonica: sushi's rice is mixed special vinegar). I wouldn't order from there again.

I'd been to this restaurant before for sushi and enjoyed my experience, but when you're not distracted by the hip ambience and it's delivery, the food really has to make a showing. I ordered the Malaysian Crepes, and while they weren't bad, they were not crepes. It was more of an empanada, and the flavors of the filling clashed with the dipping sauces -- with neither of them all that good. Next came the lobster bisque, and again I was disappointed. Instead of the richness of the bisque adding to the delight of the indulgent dish, it was heavy and overrun with flavors that clashed. I couldn't eat it all, and I had to force myself to fish for the lobster just so the precious meat wouldn't go to waste in the overwhelming sauce. I had also ordered a Thai iced tea. This was the tell-tale sign that Blue Chili isn't prepared to field a delivery market because it came in a disposable serving bowl rather than in a cup, along with another serving bowl of ice. I couldn't figure out at first what it was supposed to be. The disappointing end to the meal was the fried ice cream. I've ordered fried ice cream delivery before, and I'm experienced enough to know that this needs to go into the freezer while I eat my entrees. This occasion was no different. However, when I pulled it out of the freezer and stuck my fork in the fried green tea ice cream, the melted ice cream oozed out. (I've never had this happen with other fried ice cream deliveries before.) MOreover, the 'fried' part of the dessert was basically deep fried dough. This may be an attempt at the amalgamation of tempura or Chinese fried banana dishes with the favorite Mexican dessert concept, but it doesn't work with green tea or red bean ice cream, both flavors I love normally.
